Design featuring Nigerian Igbo brass "bug" beads and handmade Krobo glass beads from Ghana. Igbo is the name of a tribe in Nigerian where these distinctive bug beads are made. Here, I use them on both sides of the design to add variation in shape and texture to the blue Krobo (recycled) glass beads and the large matte finished lapis lazuli rondelles. For color, I have included brick red bauxite, and white bone beads, with a generous amount of handmade African brass accents. The beads are strung on leather cord, which may stretch slightly over time, hammered brass rings, solid brass chain, and an artisan brass toggle clasp in a coordinating tribal style. The length of this gorgeous chunky necklace is 18 inches, and it has a bit of weight to it.
