The Tejana Collection
My Tejana Collection is a colorful mix of beads, silver, copper, glass and stones in slightly primitive Mexican folk art designs. Vivid as the colors of Mexico, affordable handmade jewelry with a rustic character.
I have made several trips to Mexico, and when I sit and reflect on those times, I can visualize the sea and the sand, the aromas of the food cooking, and the carefree mood of the people there. I love the clothes, the food, and the art of Mexico, so it is no surprise that I adore Frida Kahlo and often play the movie video for inspiration when I am working.
The Tejana Collection of jewelry is made from natural materials and some manmade materials. Pressed amber, bone, jasper stone, and clay are among the elements used. Some enhanced materials like magnesite and casilica are also included because of their festive coloring. I love to use Czech glass beads as well, so you will see them used in several of the jewelry pieces.
